The Rank Group has confirmed the permanent appointment of Richard Harris as chief executive officer, effective immediately. Harris, who previously served as the company's chief financial officer, transitions to the top role following a period as interim CEO starting in January.
The company's nominations committee conducted a comprehensive recruitment process, evaluating both internal and external candidates before selecting Harris. John Ott, the chair of The Rank Group, stated that the board unanimously agreed on the decision after identifying a strong field of applicants.
Strategic Goals and Leadership Transition
Harris joined the Rank Board in May 2022 and brings extensive knowledge of the business operations. Ott noted that the appointment supports the group's medium-term objective of generating at least £100m in operating profit, alongside the development of a longer-term strategy.
Commenting on the appointment, Harris described Rank as an industry-leading business with a portfolio of brands synonymous with the UK gaming industry. He expressed pride in the achievements made during his tenure as CFO and outlined plans to build on current momentum while evolving the group's strategy.
